Beliefs

Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship is a family of believers who hold the following beliefs:

God –

We believe that there is One God who exists in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Genesis 1:1

Jesus –

We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, was born of a virgin, was wholly God and wholly man, lived a sinless life, died in our place as a sacrifice for the sins of mankind, died and was buried, arose bodily from the grave, appeared to many of his followers and ascended into Heaven. John 1:1, 14

Holy Spirit –

We believe that God the Holy Spirit is active in convicting unbelievers of their need to repent of their sins and their need for salvation. He is the Comforter and Counselor Who lives in every believer. Genesis 1:2; John 16:7-14; Acts 2:38

Man –

We believe that man is the special creation of God, made in His image. We believe that through the sin of the first man, Adam, all mankind has followed in that sin and are sinners by nature and in need of salvation. Genesis 1:26-30, 3; Ephesians 2:1-22; Colossians 1:21-22

Marriage –

We believe that marraige has only one meaning: the uniting of one man (male) and one woman (female) in a single, exclusive union. (Genesis 2:18-25) We believe that sexual intimacy should only occur between one man and one woman who are married to each other. (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4) We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pedophilia and use of pornography) are sinful and offensive to God. (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10)

Salvation –

We believe that salvation is a gift received through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. John 3:16; Acts 4:12; Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:9-10, 13

Bible –

We believe the Bible is the Word of God without any error and the sole authority for life and faith. Psalm 19:7-10, 119:11, 89, 105; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 4:12

Baptism –

We believe that water baptism is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and is by immersion after salvation. We believe that believer’s baptism is a picture of what we believe about Christ and what He has done for the believer. Matthew 3:6-8, 28:19-20; Acts 2:38, 16:30-33

Lord’s Supper/Communion –

We believe that the Lord Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper as a symbolic reminder of His death, burial and resurrection from the dead. Matthew 26:26-29; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Assurance –

We believe that every person who is truly saved through a relationship with Jesus Christ is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 John 5:13

Church –

We believe that the church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as its head. Each church has the right to manage its own affairs with no central authority but Jesus Christ Himself. Matthew 16:15-19; Acts 2:41-47

Prayer –

We believe that each believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Mark 11:24; Hebrews 4:16.

Government –

We believe in the separation of church and state but not the separation of God and government. Christians are salt and light in society. Romans 13:1-2; Matthew 5:13-16

Christ’s Return –

We believe that Jesus Christ will literally and bodily return to earth to reign with His Church. Matthew 24; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Eternity and Heaven –

We believe that those persons who die in their sins without Jesus Christ spend eternity in Hell and those persons who die with their sins forgiven through Jesus Christ will spend eternity in Heaven. Revelation 19-22

Evangelism and Missions –

We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every saved person to extend the Gospel to the ends of the earth until every person has had the opportunity to respond to God’s Salvation through Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19-20
